This blog will attempt to document and discuss the bus routes of old in the county of Tyne & Wear from 1974 – onwards. Looking at old bus routes and timetables is a vital historical resource if one wants to assess how public transport usage and trends have changed, in this case, since the metropolitan county of Tyne & Wear was created.
Collectors of old bus timetables can buy such items on auction sites like ebay. However, I feel its a travesty not to share your own personal collection for everyone to peruse, enjoy or analyze. This is what I want to do with my collection which is the main purpose of this archive/blog.
Hi there! Thanks so much for mentioning our site on your blog; rather a nice surprise to be honest! I’ll return the favour too, this is an excellent site you have that I’ve visited many times. I’m all for sharing old bus timetables with people too, it’s great to be able to archive them. We had a copyright scare recently with some old bus photos we were hosting – these have since been removed – and the member who donated our timetable scans asked us to put a copyright watermark to protect against theft and other people making money out of them. I can’t agree more – old bus timetables should always be free for everyone to look at and enjoy! Thanks again đŸ™‚ Brandon
